"IN MEMORY OF JERRY MASUCCI 1934-1997"
I would like to take this opportunity to briefly tell our friends how Mr. Masucci and Mr. Pichaco met. Masucci, hear Luis Damon's first salsa album Produced by Mr. Pichaco and he seemed to have taken an interest on Pichaco's work. He then contacted the studio he recorded the album at, Sound Booth, Miami, FL. asked for Pichaco's telephone number then he proceeded to call Pichaco, they talked and agreed to meet. Pichaco expected a totally different personality from Masucci. Little did he know that Masucci was nothing compared to what he thought. Masucci was a very friendly man, fun loving and very simple. When Masucci would call, he would tell me "Oye, me llamo tu Papa" . Since they met, every time Masucci visited Miami, he would call Pichaco from the airport to tell him that he was in town "let's do lunch" :) They had done a couple of projects together, and had plans for a few other interesting ones in the future. I guess he wanted to do something "New and Refreshing" with Fania Records. To make a long story short, they developed a beautiful professional and personal relationship. When Pichaco heard of the news of Masucci's death he was grief-stricken simply because Masucci was a beautiful human being.
Masucci will always have a place in our hearts.
